BRISTOL — Mayor Jeff Caggiano said that the city has commissioned a study of the cost of creating a new Bristol Police Department building.
The study is being conducted by Colliers, of Hartford. Caggiano said that he would support the replacement of the existing building, which he said was constructed in the 1970s, there was money in place to do so.
“It was in the capital improvement budget to do $12.5 million of HVAC improvements and other upgrades, but most of our estimates ended up coming back as double the projected costs, at $25 million,” said Caggiano. “The Capital Improvement Committee and Public Works decided that we should get more estimates. We hired Colliers to do an estimate for a new building.”
