According to the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, players in fiscal year 2023 won more than $1 billion in prize money.

This means the Connecticut Lottery Corporation gave back more than $404 million to support services and programs funded by the state’s General Fund, according to the agency. The Lottery, now operating for more than 40 years, has given back more than $11 billion to the state’s General Fund, according to the agency.

But what towns had the most winners? These maps show you which towns had the most winners, (for prizes of more than $599) by numbers of games won, total won and average amount won, using CT Lottery data.

The maps cover claims for winnings (prizes) of more than $599 from 2020 through Dec. 26, 2023. During that period for those prizes, there were 163,707 total wins and the total amount won was $923,111,719, according to the data. (Total cash prize: $664,728,926.25)

(Of note: Winner reports from the Lottery claims system show prizes claimed at either CT Lottery headquarters or one of its high tier claims centers, according to the agency. All prizes greater than $599 must be claimed at either headquarters or at a HTCC (prizes greater than $5,000 can only be claimed at HQ).  Prizes of less $599 can be claimed anonymously at any CT Lottery retailer, such as convenience stores and grocery stores, and those are not recorded within the claims system, so not shown on the maps.)
