CT’s Lake Compounce announces opening day for 2024, hiring 1,000 seasonal jobs

Lake Compounce, which bills itself as “The Official Park of Family Fun,” has announced both its opening date and the return of the park’s “historic Wildcat Roller Coaster, as well as improvements to its Boulder Dash Roller Coaster.

The park will open for the 2024 season on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m., a spokesperson said Thursday.

“America’s First Amusement Park will offer a full season of events as it celebrates its 178th season as the longest-running amusement park in the country,” according to the park spokesperson.

More on what’s coming up (per the park):

  • Weekends in June will feature Kids Fest, offering activities for tots, tweens and everyone in between.
  • July and August bring live music and entertainment to the park’s new floating lake stage. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy their favorite tunes during the park’s all-new Beach Bash every single weekend in July and August.
  • Plus, the park’s beloved fireworks show light up the night July 4, 5, 6 and every single Saturday in July.
  • Lake Compounce will close out the season with Phantom Fall Fest beginning Friday, September 21 and Holiday Lights returning on Friday, November 29.
  • Connecticut’s Largest Water Park, Crocodile Cove will open on Saturday, May 25 for the Memorial Day Weekend holiday.
  • Guests can purchase a 2024 Season Pass now starting at five payments under $18. Select Season Passes include access to all seasonal events including unlimited summer season access and admission to Phantom Fall Fest and Holiday Lights.

“Our team is already hard at work getting the park and our rides ready for a spectacular 2024 season,” General Manager Doug Hemphill said, in a statement.

“We are continuing to invest in our most beloved attractions as we reopen the nearly 100-year-old Wildcat Roller Coaster after a massive transformation project. This off-season, we continued the re-tracking project of the Boulder Dash Roller Coaster, which now features nearly 1,000 feet of steel Titan Track.”

Lake Compounce also is looking to fill more than 1,000 seasonal positions across all departments including food and beverage, rides, lifeguards and others, according to the spokesperson. “The park is currently offering pay rates up to $18 per hour for select positions and offers unique perks like competitive wages, growth opportunities, flexible schedules and more.”
