A person has life-threatening injuries after being struck during a hit-and-run in Bristol on Thursday night, according to police, and a suspect was taken into custody in New Britain after a separate crash.
Bristol police said a sedan struck a pedestrian on Pine Street around 10:13 p.m. and the driver left the scene. State police found the car on Route 72 in New Britain, where it was involved in a separate crash, Bristol police said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital.
State police said the suspect, a 21-year-old Bristol man, hit a guardrail on Route 72 East, near exit 1C around 10:19 p.m.

He and the passenger fled and were later taken into custody and taken to a hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries, according to state police.
The Bristol man was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading the scene of the accident with property damage, failure to maintain lane, traveling too fast for conditions, interfering/resisting, operating without a license and negligent pedestrian on a highway.
Bond was set at $100,000. He is due in court on Friday.
