BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) - A road rage incident led to a shooting in Bristol on Tuesday morning, according to police.

Police said the men involved were driving a blue Ford F-150 and a gray Subaru Forester.

They were both driving on Broad Street just before 6 a.m.

Something happened, and the two were in an intense argument, Bristol police said. One man then shot the other multiple times.

“The individual stayed on scene called 911 and is cooperative,” said Interim Bristol Police Chief Mark Morello.

The shooter has not been arrested. Police did not reveal which man was the aggressor.

“There’s still a lot of moving parts and we have to be limited as to what we are saying,” Morello said. “It was certainly more than one gunshot.”

The victim was flown to a trauma center and is in serious condition, according to police.

Police are searching for witnesses and surveillance footage.

“They can call the police anytime to report that aggressive driving. Really we don’t want to confront people for any reason. The best thing to do is pull to the side let a vehicle pass if it’s ongoing if not call 911 to report the incident,” said Morello.

Drivers were asked to seek alternatives routes.
