Mark Bishop Obituary

With very heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Mark Joseph Bishop, devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, who passed away on February 6, 2024 at the age of 48. The husband and soul mate of Janet Cahill for over half of his short life, his presence will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Mark was born and raised in Torrington and was always driven by a thirst for knowledge. He pursued higher education at several institutions in the area before ultimately earning his degree from the former Briarwood College in Southington. Mark's passion and dedication led him to a successful career at COVR in Hartford, where he played a pivotal role in expanding relationships and nurturing business growth.

Outside of work, Mark possessed an infectious enthusiasm for sports. He could often be found passionately cheering on his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, NY Yankees, and UCONN. His animated presence would fill the room as he yelled at the TV during crucial moments of the games. Beyond sports, Mark held an immense love for cooking, pouring his heart and soul into each carefully prepared meal for his family, leaving them waiting with anticipation. His culinary skills and dedication earned him a cherished place among friends and colleagues during his years with Max Restaurant Group.  Family was of utmost importance to Mark, and his love for them knew no bounds. Eagerly attending every sporting event, milestone, and special occasion for his children and nieces, he ensured that his presence and support were felt throughout their lives. In his downtime, Mark enjoyed indulging in his favorite hobbies of golfing and fishing. Whether he was perfecting his swing on the green or casting his line into the tranquil waters, these moments brought him solace and joy.  His warm presence, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will forever be etched in our hearts. Mark's compassion, dedication, and zest for life are an inspiration to us all, reminding us to savor each moment and embrace our passions.

In addition to his wife Janet, he leaves his pride and joy, his children Hayley, Jordan and Gabriella; his parents, Mark Bishop, Sr. and his wife Ellen and Sharon (Vanotti) Bishop; his sister, Lynette Fenn and her daughter, Hannah; his in-laws whom he shared a special bond, Richard and the late Rhonda Cahill; his sisters-in-law, Lorna Cahill and her daughter Martina Trovato and Debbie Collins, her husband Tommy and their daughter Ava; along with countless friends and colleagues, including his best friends Derek and Marie Vitale, and his lifelong friend Gary Buchelt, whom he considered family.  Last but definitely not least, he leaves his best buddy, often referred to as his “favorite child”, his dog Charlie.
