Tribute

Anne V. Normoyle, 85, beloved wife of John J. Normoyle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. Anne was born June 29, 1938 in Bealadangan, Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. She was the daughter of the late Bartley and Mary (McDonough) O’Malley.

In 1956, with only $30 in her pocket, she boarded a Lufthansa airplane and flew to America to begin her new life. Anne was introduced to the “Love of Her Life” by her sister Bridie. It was love at first sight for John, but it took “some” convincing to win over Anne. This led to many dates - Irish Ceilis - dancing the night away. After he won her heart, she was truly devoted to him. The two were married on September 14, 1963. A true “Irish lass” through and through, she loved her Irish heritage and its music. Anne loved to entertain, sing and dance. One of her very proud accomplishments was attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City for 50 straight years! Anne was born with a green thumb and this was evident in the care she gave to her many plants. She also loved to travel to Lake George which she fondly called her “Heaven on Earth” and also to the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, MA. She loved her God above anything else. Anne loved the NY Yankees, watching Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, listening to Irish music and Dolly Parton and enjoying a lovely cup of tea or McDonald’s coffee! But most of all, she loved her family especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Anne is survived by her 5 children: Maureen of Cincinnati, OH, Patricia Lussier and her husband Brian of Terryville, CT, Sean and his wife, Cathy, of Kent, NY, Michael and his wife, Shiho, of Danbury, CT and Patrick and his wife, Julie, of Pelham, NY. She was a loving “Momo” to her six grandchildren: Shannon, Mark, Connor, Liam, Kieran and Cole. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hayes of Boston and by numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the USA, Ireland and England. Anne was warm and welcoming, kind hearted, soft spoken, loving until you pushed her buttons and then she was a firecracker! She was feisty – she did not put up with nonsense (Sean). She knew how to get things done. She was a loving mother and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Anne was always there for you – you knew she always had your back! Anne and John would take the kids camping most summers or make trips back home to Ireland to visit family. They instilled in their children that family was the most important people in your life and to always be there for each other. Most will remember Anne for her beautiful smile and her contagious laugh. Her laugh would embarrass her kids at their school plays. Everyone knew whose laugh that was.
Anne was greeted in Heaven by her siblings: Coleman, Bridget, Patrick, Martin and Barney. This family will miss her guidance, her energy, her laugh and most importantly, her love.
