Robert Day Obituary

Robert M. Day, 76 of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family after a brief illness on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 35 years, Corrine (Motyka) Day, who predeceased him in 2017. Together they shared endless love, laughter and life adventures.

Robert was born on June 12, 1947 in Hartford, CT son to the late Robert Thomas and Aldona Marie (Sellock) Day. A man of unwavering dedication and loyalty, Robert's service to our country in the U.S. Marine Corps reflected his commitment to duty and honor. His contributions to his country spanning over four tours will always be remembered and cherished. Lovingly known as the prankster, Robert's sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew him. He was known for his strong, yet gentle nature, always putting his family first and cherishing every moment spent with them. A true gentleman in every sense of the word, Robert had a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Robert is survived by his son, Christopher Williams and his wife, Melissa; his daughter, Lannie Pooler and her husband, Jeff; his grandchildren, Brianna, Hailey, Elena, Joshua, and his great granddaughter, Olivia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Aldona Day.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
