Sarah A. Drost

Sarah A. Drost, 70 of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 14, 2024, with her family by her side. Sarah lost her battle to lung cancer after a long and courageous fight. She was born on October 17, 1953 in Bristol, the daughter of the late Elwin and Josephine Drost. Sarah was a loving mother, beloved grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sarah embraced life to the fullest and never let anything stop her from achieving her dreams. She could be counted on and was always willing to give of herself to help others.

Sarah worked as an auditor for 20 years at Cigna, and finished her career working in member services at AAA Auto Club, where everyone enjoyed working with her and she was considered the office barista. Sarah loved watching her grandchildren grow up and shared stories about them with everyone she met. She was also an avid reader, loved to knit blankets for the new babies in the family, along with enjoying her afternoon soap operas. She is survived by her daughter and daughter-in-law Alicia and Kristen Dignazio-Drost; her grandchildren, Jamyson, Taylar, Elley, Nikolas, Kaitlyn, Eilanna, Nolan and Ivan; her in-law family including daughters-in-law Jennifer Dahlstrom and Joyanne Wargo, her co-grandma and close friend Eileen Dignazio, one brother and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Lisa Aakjar and family who helped her during her battle with cancer. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Bill Murphy and his family, including her sister-in law and friend, Gail Ciervo and family. Sarah also leaves behind her beloved cat Jasper. She was predeceased by her brother Rue Drost and son-in-law Glen Dahlstrom.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew Church, Forestville at 11AM, followed by a procession to Forestville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sarah’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
