FREE Artist Reception at Barnes Nature Center
Date: Sunday, January 14, 2018 (Event Views: 1,001)

Featuring the Artwork of Richard Santorso
“The Canvas & the Brush”

Richard Santorso’s artistic ability appeared around the age of 7. In grade school, he won second prize in a Florida competition themed “What is Florida to Me”. At age 9, he completed his first oil painting and it sold to the Bristol Lobster House for $20. At 15, Richard was accepted into art school in Ohio but unfortunately his father couldn’t let him take advantage of the opportunity, so he continued to paint on his own. By age 21, he had a painting hung in one of the Capitol Buildings in Washington D.C. and received honorable mention in the Hartford, CT competition for the NE artist. Over the years, Richard was a member of the Bristol and New Britain Art Leagues. At one time, Richard owned his own gallery and studio space in Terryville, CT called “Different Strokes” and his artwork has sold throughout the U.S. as well as internationally. Richard continues to paint to this day, always challenging his abilities.

Free refreshments provided.
