FINAL DAY
Donate your gently worn shoes, sandals, work boots, ballet shoes, sneaks and cleats. All men's, woman's and children shoes accepted.
Shoes will be re-purposed to other organizations locally and abroad through a non-profit group. The monies raised by United Way of West Central CT will support programming and initiatives on health, education and financial stability in the region we serve, Bristol, Burlington, Plainville and Plymouth.
Drop off at United Way office, 440 No. Main St.; Agape House, 43 School St., Bristol; Beacon Pharmacy, 57 South St. Bristol; Bristol, Senior Centers in Bristol, Burlington and Plainville; Bristol Farmers' Market- Saturdays through Oct. 5; Creative Kitchen & Bath Design, Burlington, during business hours; Grace Baptist Church, 736 King St., Bristol; St. Andrews Church, 1125 Stafford Ave. Bristol; Thomaston Savings Bank, Farmington Ave. and Middle Street branches.

Professor Jay Bergman of Central Connecticut State University presents an overview of the events and institutions involved in the fall of the Tsar, the Communist takeover in 1917 and the Civil War that followed. Dr. Bergman will also explain how the partial economic freedom permitted by the New Economic Policy in 1921 led to the crackdown on political dissent, inside and outside of the Communist Party.

October 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The New England Carousel Museum lecture series, held on the second Thursday of each month in 2019 will feature presentations, exhibition openings, artist talks and workshops. Join scholars and experts as they share their vast knowledge of the art and history of carousels, carvers, artists, and your favorite carousels. Museum After Hours will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM with a wine and cheese reception taking place 6:00-6:30 PM. Admission to this series is included with general admission, and as always museum members are free.

6:00 – 7:30 PM
October is Fire Awareness and Prevention Month! Join the staff and volunteers at the Museum of Fire History and discover the array of firefighting memorabilia and history on display! All ages are welcome!
