My Art- My Story: Community Art Show  (163 Views)


Description:You are cordially invited to attend the opening reception of “My Art- My Story”, an exhibit of artwork created by our Early Learning Center and community preschools on Tuesday, May 7th at Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center located at One Pleasant Street in Bristol. “My Art- My Story”, a spring art show will take place from 6-8pm and will feature a gallery walk with children’s art work. Free healthy snacks will be provided by the Bristol School Readiness Council and The Bristol Early Childhood Alliance. Light refreshments will be served.

Bristol Chorale and Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble "Great Americana Songbook"  (4 Views)


The Bristol Chorale and Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble Spring Concert, “Great Americana Songbook” will truly be a festive evening for the entire family. The combination of the two dynamic ensembles will assure an exciting event for the young and young at heart. The Concert will take place May 11, 2019 at 7:00pm, St Paul High School. Much of the music for this concert comes from the American Song Book collection. It also features a tribute to Karen Carpenter. The Wind Ensemble presents a jazz fusion piece by Chic Corea called “Spain”. It is likely Corea's most recognized work. It’s a day to join hands, open your heart and find your voice. Day of Caring is chance for all individuals in our communities to give, advocate and volunteer.
This annual United Way sponsored event offers hundreds of people the opportunity to volunteer at non-profit agencies in our community. Day of Caring began in 1992 as a way to help employees of local corporations interact with human service agencies and has grown since then. While United Way promotes community service volunteer efforts year-round, this day brings hundreds of people together to make a difference in their community.

Music Among the Memorials  (785 Views)


On Sunday, May 26th at 2PM, there will be a live concert on the Memorial Boulevard in Bristol featuring music from the Revolutionary War through Vietnam.
It will combine both popular home front music and military songs of the day with an emphasis on World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.

The performance will feature lead singer Wanda Houston who has lived and performed professionally throughout the U.S. and Europe, on Broadway stages, in films, recordings and television. She has worked in varying capacities with
Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, John Tuturro, Eddie Izzard, Natalie Cole, Eartha Kitt, Patti LaBelle, Sam Harris and on the stages of the Pasadena Playhouse, Universal Studios, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall.

Wanda will be accompanied by the Scott Heth quintet.
The concert is a joint presentation of the Bristol Historical Society and Team Bristol and is open to the public. Admission
is free.

Parking will be allowed on the Memorial Boulevard for easy access to the concert site. Bring your own chair or blanket
and be aware that no food or drinks are allowed. Enjoy a trip down memory lane as we listen to the music that was
popular through the centuries during America’s fight for independence and freedom.
