Two Lights for Tomorrow
Bristol’s America250 Committee in partnership with the City of Bristol invites the Bristol community to attend the “Two Lights for Tomorrow” event on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 7 to 8 pm. “Two Lights for Tomorrow” is a nationwide initiative to commence the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding. The famous ride of Paul Revere occurred overnight on April 18-19, 1775.
Join the City of Bristol and the Bristol America250 Committee for a short ceremony and a presentation by Mayor Caggiano that will take place at the Revolutionary War Monument at Veterans Memorial Boulevard Park between 7:15 and 7:30 pm. Two lights will be lit at dusk to commemorate the famous ride by Paul Revere. Parking for this event is available at the parking lot off of South Street, the small parking area on Wozenski Way or at BAIMS.
The America250 Committee invites all scout troops who are interested in participating in the ceremony to join them. Scout troops are asked to arrive at the Revolutionary War Monument at 7 pm dressed in their uniform.
While this is a free event, donations to Bristol’s America250 Committee are welcome, which will allow us to bring more events to the community in the next year to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Checks can be made payable to: Bristol Historical Society, put “250” in the memo line and mail to: BHS, P.O. Box 1393, Bristol, CT 06011-1393.

Marty O’Reilly with special guest, Sean Rowe
Downtown Live at The Rockwell Theater
Sat, Apr 19 • 7pm - 9:30pm
This show is a can’t miss for anyone who loves beautiful harmonies, indie folk and incredible original music.
Explaining Marty O’Reilly’s music is like describing a dream. It feels familiar, but at the same time unchartered. His songs sound bluesy but not blues, folk but not folk, soulful but not soul. Marty’s voice is beautiful and unique, his lyrics stark yet lush over gritty electrified guitar, melding beautifully into genre-defying music within the vast definitions of Americana. One can hear an urgency and complexity in the songs, expressing something elemental and perhaps contradictory: love and anger, joy and pain, real and imagined.

Wednesday April 30 2025
Wonder of Women
The 24th annual Wonder of Women WOW event will be held on April 30, 2025 at 5:30pm at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Seats are $75 per person, and can be purchased by sending a check to Main Street Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2702, Bristol, Connecticut 06011-2702. Proceeds from the event support programs and initiatives that improve the lives of women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.
In addition to several grantee organizations, the guest speaker this year will be Donna Palomba. Donna is a nationally-recognized speaker, author, and advocate for survivors of sexual crimes. Following a harrowing home invasion and assault in 1993, Donna faced further victimization when the police department mishandled her case. Her extraordinary strength, perseverance, and leadership brought meaningful change to both police policy and Connecticut state law.
In 2007, Donna’s case was the impetus for the removal of the statute of limitations on sexual crimes with DNA evidence in CT. Donna’s experience led her to found Jane Doe No More®, a nonprofit charity dedicated to empowering survivors of sexual crimes to find their voice, advance their healing and educate others. Her story was featured in a two-hour show on Dateline NBC in 2007 and again in a new show in 2022, The New York Times Magazine in 2018 and is chronicled in her book, “Jane Doe No More,” published in 2012.
