Wow, I''m so glad I found this website! I''m a Bristol native, my ancestry going way back on my father''s side with the Pierce family, but the reason I''ve been looking for this is because of an article concerning the old SOUTH CHIPPENS HILL SCHOOL up on Hill St. It sits empty and unused now, the politicians unsure what to do with it. I attended that school for 3 years, my sister went there and my Mom and her Taylor siblings, who lived on Norwalk Ave. nearby. I''m trying to collect former students'' stories and pictures about this school now that I''ve gathered the history of it and taken pictures (from the outside so far). Please get the word out if you know of anyone who wants to share these. I don''t know yet if it''ll be a book, article, booklet, but I''m working with Bob Montgomery of the BRISTOL BITS Column in the Bristol Press to get the word out for people to contact me. I have written down my story, input from my sister and Mom and another alumni, so far, and I''m working with the pictures I''ve been able to get and drawings I''m doing (I''m an illustrator-type artist) to go with the story. My hope is not only to preserve the building, but hopefully get it opened up as a useful site, a branch of the library seeming to make the most sense with the population explosion up there.
I am also a graduate of BRISTOL EASTERN HIGH/BEHS, Class of ''65. My 5 brothers and sisters, all younger than me, range from almost age 48 upward, so with all the big families in our Northeast section of Bristol, some of you may know them. I lived in bristol most of my working days in ct.I enjoyey living in bristol.It was a good town to live in. I found that the school system was the best around I had a handi-cap son in a wheel chair and every effort was made to accomonate his every needs.He graduated in 1995 from bristol central with high honors.He had a great aide by the name of mrs ferro.Tim enjoyed his life in bristol till he passed away in 2003. So i would like to thank all who took part in his life thank you. I,am, now retired and live in maine. I miss ct some what. But most of all the town of bristol. It is a good town to bring childen up. I have 2 short (~3 min) home movies shot by my parents in the Bristol area in the mid-late 1940''s. They are weddings for "Ray" and "Red". My parents are dead and I have no idea who these people are. I was born and raised in Forestville, been away now for 12 years. Sure miss the ole hometown feeling. Such a great site to see and the pictures of all the events. Forestville sure has grown.
